The LG G6 will be arriving at Mobile World Congress 2017 next month

LG has officially confirmed the launch date for its next flagship smartphone, with the LG G6 set to appear next month.

The company has sent out invitations to the media for a press event on February 26th, the day before the Mobile World Congress 2017 trade show is set to kick off in Barcelona.

And the new device could well come packing as LG looks to try and lure customers away from rivals such as Samsung.

LG’s invite suggests that a new smartphone could be arriving soon

The invite, entitled “See More, Play More”, appears in the silhouette of a smartphone, suggesting that the event will be the unveiling of LG’s newest device.

Now, a report from the company’s home nation of South Korea has claimed that LG is planning to integrate a super-smart artificial intelligence (AI) system in the handset.

This has led to a report in news site Business Korea claiming that the LG G6 will come bundled with the new Google Assistant.

The LG G6 looks likely to come with the super-smart Google Assistant

LG has apparently sought closer ties with Google to implement the latest features of Android Nougat into the G6, suggesting that the new device will skip a build of the software.

Currently, the Google Assistant is only available , the very latest build of the software, which is, for the moment, exclusive to the company’s own Pixel and Pixel XL devices.

The feature allows users to speak to their devices in order to get information and answers on a wide range of queries, including weather information, traffic and even restaurant bookings.

If true, the partnership would allow Google to carry out wider testing of the Assistant without needing to continue investing in building new handsets, especially with the Pixel devices still so new on the market.

Other rumours have suggested that the LG G6 could be a seriously impressive device when it launches.

The phone had been , which would allow users to unlock their device without needing to enter a password or even touch their phones.
